One Vision – 6VFW Mission, Vision, and Goals for 2020

Our main goal for 2020 is to simply be better at everything we do. Our goal is not as lofty as the moon but is noble, nonetheless. We set these goals and task to help organize, challenge and help our group grow in 2020. Below are the tasks required to achieve our goal.
Thankfulness, Humility, and Remembrance-
We must realize how extremely lucky we are to live in a world that allows us the luxury to play these ‘games’. We should be thankful of that and be humbled and thankful for what we have this holiday season. There is a reason why this is the first task. It is one of the most important to truly be better. Most of us truly live with first world problems. I am thankful for those who came before and continue to sacrifice their lives and wellbeing to provide us with this life. I am thankful for the community we have built. I believe that we already have the best group of guys and that we will attract the best to join us.
Commitment-
Second is commitment. As with any organization there are a lot of people that work behind the scenes to facilitate its existence. Our officers and moderators put a lot into creating missions, running operations, and helping maintain our community. As they continue their commitment to growing our community, I ask all our operators for their commitment in 2020. It is hard to continue to create missions, campaigns and run operations with smaller numbers. We ask for your help first with your attendance and second with your expertise in any area relating to our community.
Dedication to Skill-
To achieve our goal, it will require us to put in the time to learn our game of choice more. We are dedicated to providing an atmosphere that promotes training. We already have the expertise to help our fellow operators to become better pilots and players and we have already shown that we will help each other become better.
Focus –
The final task is to focus. Our community has a lot of things in motion at any given moment. To achieve our goal will require us to focus on each task, to focus on our individual development and to focus on the growth of the community.
Digital Combat Simulator Updates for 2020
For DCS we will start the year off with a bang. Our first Annual Fleet Week will start Feb 8th and will kickoff with an airshow and fly in event in the Persian Gulf at Dubai Int. Then we will spend the week doing training and preparing for the next campaign. During the Fleet Week event we will also have the finale to our first dogfight tournament. We are hoping both of these events will be successful and become an annual tradition.
In June we will deploy to Nevada for Fighter Weapons School / Top Gun. I have chosen the month of June in honor of the release of Top Gun: Maverick. We will spend a few weeks at Nellis doing a version of the air force Fighter Weapons School, then we will TDY to Tonopah Test Range for the naval version.
Nellis session will focus on air to ground weapons, systems, and general airmanship. We will also work to complete all pilots UPT during this time. Goal is to use this time to complete both UPT and Bravo training courses on your selected airframe.
Tonopah Test Range session will solely focus on air to air combat. Every pilot will have a chance to train on blue and red. The end of the training session will be an in wing Top Gun tournament to crown the best pilot.
This training campaign is a key step in achieving our goal of being better. At the end of this session everyone will be up to par and ready for our fall campaign.
We will have our annual DCS Independence Day mission again this year in honor of the 4th of July and the movie. This year’s mission will be called the Fourth of Dubai and see us fighting an off screen battle from the second Independence Day movie in the PG. I would like to add enemy ground units to the mission, so it is not all air to air.
Fall campaign details are TBA but will see us deploy to the Caucasus region, although we will deploy to a different region on the map then our usually Senaki area.
One of the big pushes in 2020 is we will start to include Red missions into our campaigns. So we will fly missions on both sides to drive the campaign canon and provide different experiences and challenges.
I would also like to see us branch out and become more involved in the greater DCS community. Hopefully this includes flying with other wings, on other servers, and participating in DCS tournaments and Blueflag.
ARMA 3 Updates for 2020
For ARMA we will have our first set of Field Training Exercises (FTX 20-01) in January. These will focus on preparing again for desert warfare of the next campaign. We will do MOUT, Bounding, JTAC, and Combined Arms training at Fort Jackson and 29 Palms training centers. We will have two dedicated training dates along with the training server up in between to allow members to train and test new weapons.
Our next campaign will be tied in with the DCS Persian Gulf campaign. Events from missions from each will drive events in the other. Like in DCS, ARMA will also begin running missions from the Red side to allow to tell and drive the campaign. For this we will bring back dedicated Petting Zoo operations which will be on the Red Side, with the Company 2 missions being on the Blue.
During the month of July we will see our first 1776 Revolutionary War campaign. This will be a set of missions spanning the summer.
For the Space Force the Thot Squad will start operating at least one dedicated mission a month using the Star Wars mod and Alpaca’s Liberation server.
And finally, we will continue our Christmas tradition with another Santa op next year.
Falcon BMS Updates for 2020
One of the first steps for 2020 will be to fully flush out 4.34U1 which just released. Our BMS ops have dropped drastically since the release of 4.34. I would like to get at least one flight happening a week. We may need to reevaluate the time for ops to work out a time that works best for most pilots, as well as new campaigns and theaters.
In the past we used to fly multiple airframes F/A-18, F-15, F-22, etc in BMS. For 2020 I am looking at focusing on F-16 blocks only. The reason is to be better and help facilitate new players we must focus on being very good at a certain thing. While flying the others was fun in the past it led to splintering and not being very good at any of them.
Like the other games we will have a training period to focus on getting everyone up to the same standard. The timeframe is Q1 2020. Goal is to have this complete by March or so. Hopefully by then we can select a campaign and get one started again.
One area of focus is going to be trying to get a dedicated server for BMS back up. We can fly on the Falcon Lounge but that is a stop gap. We need to be able to host and fly our own events.
Another area that I am interested in is one that most of our BMS pilots are already participating in, and that is flying in outside events with either the UOAF, Falcon Lounge, etc. I like the spirit of being part of the larger community. It will be nice to go forward and represent the 6VFW in these events.
So Jesters, Gunslingers, Thot Squad, Boys of Company 2, the wild animals of Petting Zoo and the Battle Thots of the 212th. I wish you all the best in 2020. I look forward to flying with you more in the coming months. I look forward to us all being better this time next year.
