SITREP 02JAN2021 – Let’s Go to War – 2021 Vision and Goals
FROM: High Command
TO: 6VFW
INFO: Guidance
PRECEDENCE: Flash
Well that did not go to plan. What a year 2020 turned out to be. As we head into 2021 lets continue to be humble and thankful for what we have in this life. We live in a world that allows us the luxury to play these ‘games’. As I said last year we should be thankful of that and be humbled and thankful for what we have this holiday season. 2020 showed us one thing and that is this can all end in a moments notice.
Life is short and fleeting, and there is no respawn.
Change in Training, Deployments & Campaigns
For 2021 we will change the way we train, deploy and handle our campaigns. I have been studying other virtual groups and came across the State military and saw their 6 month deployment cycle. I liked this a lot and we will use something similar for our campaigns in 2021. This cycle gives us a way to incorporate training along the way.
One six-month deployment cycle is as follows:
● ~4 weeks of training (concluding with graduation and the fly-in to Nevada on the final day) for all new members this will be their UPT, Bravo and Mission Qualification Training period. For regular members this will be MQT allowing them to refresh skills.
● ~2 weeks of Work-ups in Nevada. First week will be air to air and second will be air to ground.
● One week off
● ~4 weeks of COMPTUEX. This will include mock package flights simulating expected mission types to be seen during deployment.
● One week off
● ~10 weeks of deployment. First mission of campaign will see a Fly-in to the AO.
● Fleet Week Celebration.
● One week off
This is a generalized calendar and all timing is subject to change based on needs of the wing and progression of training or campaign.
Introduce 601st Virtual Training Squadron
All training will now fall under 601st Virtual Training Squadron. There will be 3 detachments.
Det A – ARMA will be stationed at Fort Jackson and will include all ARMA training.
Det B – Falcon BMS will be stationed at Kunsan AB and fly F-16D-40’s for UPT and F-16C-40 for Bravo/MQT.
Det D – DCS WORLD will be stationed at Tblisi and fly the MB-338 until the T-45 is released. MB-338 will be UPT platform with their chosen airframe in Bravo.
Space Force Saturdays
The Space Force will grow in 2021. With the release of Star Wars squadrons we are looking to include operations in that. We will also bring back Star Wars and Stargate ARMA 3 operations in 2021. With this we will have a dedicated Saturday every month called Space Force Saturday.
ARMA 3 2021 Updates
ARMA ops and campaigns will change in 2021. With lower number of operators I am looking at creating smaller operations. Another area I am looking into is AI behavior and was to tune it to not be as stupid or difficult.
Company 2 will focus more on combined arms operations with a ground fire team / tank or APC and an AH-64D CAS support aircraft. This will be our main battle element in the Syria campaign. In the second half of 2021 we will return to amphibious warfare off the LHD using the same combined arms unit with a LAV.
Petting Zoo will have multiple campaigns across the Ukraine, Wildlands, and other locals across the globe. PZ will get to the bottom of the Zombie virus. The PZ will also have new PMC contracts to fulfill driving a late 2021 campaign. We will also return to the Wild West for a PZ origins campaign.
Falcon BMS 2021 Updates
Our Falcon BMS squad is growing! With our first UPT/Bravo of 2021 starting soon we are excited to induct these new pilots in time for our first campaign of the year in Syria.
Syria will see the 6VFW creating their own campaigns for Falcon BMS. Goal going forward will be to create our own for each future campaign. (Unless we come across a cool campaign created by another.)
DCS World 2021 Updates
DCS World will follow and deploy to Syria as well. We will use the DCS Liberation dynamic campaign engine for our Syrian campaign. We are excited by this new program and the possibilities that it enables. One of the biggest is the ability for us to create small missions for a little as 2 pilots to complete work as part of the larger campaign.
We will also deploy to Guam in the second half of 2021 hopefully after the release of that new map.
Standing up of Combat Aviation Brigade
With the announcement of the DCS World AH-64D Apache we have decided to spin all of our helicopters in DCS to a new squadron. The Combat Aviation Brigade will activate and handle all rotary wing operations in DCS World. Once the Kiowa and Apache release then we will group units by helo type with an ATTACK and SUPPORT units.
The future is a head of us and we look forward to seeing everyone in the virtual skies in 2021!
